Optical engineers design parts of optical instruments such as camera lenses, telescopes, microscopes etc. that use light to see.

 

Engineers study the way light is produced, measured and detected to building devices to use in medical areas, space, computer, television, and cell phones.

 

They combine their optic knowledge with other engineering areas such as computers, applications, electrical and/or mechanical engineering.

 

You need a lot of science and math classes, and problem-solving skills
