Psychiatric Service Dogs, also called Post-traumatic Service Dogs (PTSD), are service dogs trained to assist with such psychiatric disabilities as post-traumatic stress or mental health issues.

 

There is a long training program for these dogs.  Trainers also have a training program to get certified.  They train the dog and then work with the dog and people together.
